PONDEROSA PICNICS

Ponderosa Picnics is a luxury picnic service that was started in autumn of 2021 originally as a school project by the founder, Lilly Denief. Her business class required the students to create a company from scratch — from branding to the marketing strategies of social media, they had to do it all.

Lilly came to me to help her with this project, but as time went on, and before her brand identity was officially launched, she was getting inquiries about her luxury picnics. Things were moving fast, and so we got to work.

In just a few months, we had collaborated together to create this one of a kind brand identity for a high-end, outdoor niche that is slowly gaining popularity here in the United States. These luxury picnics are a perfect addition to the many outdoor adventures of The Black Hills of South Dakota. The Hills are known for its plethora of outdoor adventures as it is: mountainous hikes, beautiful lakes, rock climbing — millions visit every year to experience its unique natural beauty.

Being the first of its kind here in the Black Hills, we positioned Ponderosa Picnics to be the leading luxury picnic service in Western South Dakota.

 
 
 
 
 
 

THE POWER OF SUBTLETIES

To create cohesion within the brand, outside of color and type, careful composition was used to tie together a visual theme. The soft oval shape of the logo icon was used as a photographic frame for a more kin feeling of the brand. It’s a subtle design choice that, in the end, resulted in an intuitive flow of aesthetics.
